The living room is often the heart of the home, but televisions, games consoles, speakers, streaming equipment and cables can quickly make the space feel cluttered. A bespoke media unit provides an elegant way to bring everything together, creating a stylish focal point while providing practical storage designed specifically around your home.
At Corston Bespoke Interiors, we design and manufacture handmade bespoke furniture tailored to your individual requirements. Based in Staunton, Gloucestershire, we create made-to-measure media units that combine thoughtful design, quality craftsmanship and practical functionality.
Whether you are looking for a bespoke media unit in Gloucestershire, Cheltenham, Gloucester, Worcestershire or Moreton-in-Marsh, our aim is to create furniture that works beautifully within your room and complements your existing interior.
A bespoke media unit is a made-to-measure piece of fitted furniture designed around your television and entertainment equipment. Rather than choosing a standard-sized television stand or storage cabinet, a bespoke solution can be designed to suit the exact dimensions and layout of your room.
Every home is different, which means there is no reason your media furniture should be standard.
A custom media unit can incorporate television storage, cupboards, drawers, shelving, display areas and dedicated spaces for consoles, sound systems and other equipment. It can also provide clever solutions for concealing cables and electrical connections, helping create a much cleaner and more organised living space.
One of the main advantages of bespoke media furniture is the ability to make the most of the space available.
Perhaps you have an awkward alcove that is difficult to furnish, a chimney breast that needs to be incorporated into the design or an entire wall that could benefit from additional storage. Made-to-measure furniture can be designed around these features rather than forcing your room to accommodate an off-the-shelf product.
A well-designed media unit can provide a combination of open shelving and concealed storage. This allows you to display books, photographs and decorative items while keeping games, remote controls, cables and other everyday items neatly out of sight.
Modern entertainment systems can involve a surprising number of cables and devices. From games consoles and soundbars to routers, streaming boxes and speakers, keeping everything organised can be a challenge.
A custom-made media unit can be designed with cable management and equipment storage considered from the beginning.
At Corston Bespoke Interiors, we can incorporate practical features that allow cables and plugs to remain hidden while still being easily accessible when required. This creates a cleaner appearance without compromising the functionality of your entertainment system.
The result is furniture that looks carefully considered rather than a collection of separate electronic devices and cables.
Your television naturally becomes one of the main features of a living room, so the furniture surrounding it needs to be proportioned correctly.
A bespoke media unit can be designed around the size and position of your television, creating a balanced appearance within the room. The design can also take into consideration viewing height, surrounding windows, fireplaces, alcoves and other architectural features.
Whether you prefer a minimalist contemporary design or something more traditional, the furniture can be created to complement your home's existing style.
A media unit does not have to be limited to a television and a shelf underneath.
With bespoke design, your furniture can combine several functions within one cohesive piece. For example, it could include full-height cupboards for additional living-room storage, open shelving for books and ornaments, drawers for smaller items and dedicated spaces for entertainment equipment.
Lighting can also be incorporated into the design. Recessed lighting or LED strips can add subtle illumination to shelving and create an atmospheric effect in the evening.
The possibilities are much greater than with standard furniture because the design starts with your room and your requirements.
At Corston Bespoke Interiors, the design process is an important part of every project. We work closely with customers to understand their requirements and how they want their finished furniture to look and function.
Before manufacturing begins, customers receive a 3D CAD design showing the proposed furniture. This provides a clear visual representation of the finished media unit and allows ideas to be considered and refined before work begins.
This attention to detail helps ensure that the finished furniture is not simply functional, but properly suited to the room and the way you use it.
Mass-produced furniture is designed to suit the widest possible range of homes. Bespoke furniture is different. It is designed specifically for you.
At Corston Bespoke Interiors, every project is approached with an emphasis on craftsmanship, detail and quality. Owner Oliver Corston began his career in bespoke furniture in 2011 and completed a College Diploma in Fine Furniture Making before gaining more than a decade of experience in the industry.
This experience is reflected in the attention given to design, construction and finishing.
